Sterling silver affirmation necklace, ring, charm and bracelet
Most people would have no problem identifying at least one or two types of the symbolism you can come across in jewellery - for example religious (e.g. a pendant in the shape of a cross) or romantic, like an engagement ring that's set with a diamond to represent eternal and faithful love. The concept of using jewellery to represent ideas and beliefs has been around for hundreds if not thousands of years, but the last few years has seen the arrival of a trend that reinvents this concept in a new yet very appealing way. This trend involves taking a plain piece of jewellery - be it a necklace, ring, charm or bracelet - and stamping it with a word or phrase (or even a short poem) that helps to imbue the wearer with positive thoughts or emotions and perhaps even helps them overcome any problems that they might be facing.
Such "affirmation jewellery" therefore makes a fantastic gift for anyone you know who might be in such a situation, but it's also great for anyone who just likes jewellery! I've done some research online for ideas, and have found a few really cool ones on Amazon.com. I've concentrated on sterling silver because it suits a large range of skin tones (and pockets), yet is a precious metal and therefore more likely to keep its value. The common design theme running through pretty well all the affirmation necklaces/pendants featured here is that of simplicity: simple shapes such as hearts and circles, where the words in the affirmation message can stand out and play a starring role. Not only that, but a lot of the pendants are cut-out shapes, which can be suspended from the chain or satin thong that you buy them with, but can also be used as charms for a bracelet or keyring if that's what you prefer. Another cool idea is to wear them as a necklace on a chain, but to add a small charm (such as an animal or birthstone) that sits nicely in the centre. There's one affirmation necklace I found on Amazon which already comes with its own charm - it's the "Softball" one, which is a fantastic gift idea for anyone who loves this particular sport. Or if you know someone who has recently fought breast cancer, then the breast cancer survivor awareness necklace has a powerful message - the main ring is stamped with the word "Courage", while the ribbon charm next to it has the word "Survivor" engraved on it....
