CASPER, Wyo. — Even the busiest guys on the planet have time to go to Walmart with their 3-year-old granddaughters.
On Monday afternoon, Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps director Fred Morris was cruising Walmart in Cambridge Springs, Pa., with 3-year-old granddaughter, Madison Grace.
“We’re getting groceries for the corps, and then she’s looking at stuff,” Morris said. “She’s hanging with Grandpa for a couple days.”
Tonight, the corps presents its final show of the season before heading to Drum Corps International Championships in Indianapolis. The show is in Massillon, Ohio, just west of Canton, and is part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival.
“Tell them this is Fred’s home show,” he said.
The corps was to stay Monday night at Leetonia, Ohio, High School, “three little towns from where I grew up,” Morris said.
The past week has featured three shows of varying size with consistent scores for the Troopers at each performance.
Grandfather who shot granddaughter headed to grand jury ...
The criminal case against a 69-year-old grandfather, Albert Ibold of West Chester Township, who shot his 2-year-old granddaughter was sent to a grand jury Tuesday for possible indictment. According to Cincinnati.com, Ibold appeared in Butler County Area III Court with an attorney and waived a preliminary hearing in which police would testify about the incident.
Ibold is charged with felony child endangerment and handling weapons while intoxicated involving the July 10 shooting at his Tri County View condominium, according to the report.
After shooting his granddaughter, Ibold told 911 dispatchers “I was messing with one of my guns and I didn’t know it was loaded. I pulled the trigger and it hit her.”
Ibold also told dispatchers that he was a couple of feet away from his granddaughter when the gun fired. The .32 caliber bullet entered and exited the left side of the child’s abdomen....

And just because Shai is the only granddaughter, doesn’t mean that she is the only “victim” the boys have, because their moms and even their grandma are fair game. It’s a good thing that I know that they are just kidding, because to be honest, I know that any one of those boys could take me. They are all bigger than I am, and stronger, so I am learning that it is a good thing that they have all learned respect for their elders. They just pick on me because…well they can and I don’t get mad. I guess that makes grandma a pushover, and I would have to say…probably so, because these boys, as well as my granddaughter, know that they really can’t do very much that is wrong in their grandma’s eyes. I’m pretty taken with them.
