Recently I was invited to the Helen Ficalora boutique in Soho, New York for a press event to kick off National Pollinator Week with Burt’s Bees—the natural personal care company. The charm, exclusively for Burt’s Bees, also helps raise awareness of the world’s declining bee population, Those who make a donation of at least $150 by 9/30/11 to the Pollinator Partnership will receive the charm and a Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom. In turn, the donation will ensure that a school selected by Pollinator Partnership receives a “Bee Smart School Garden Kit” featuring the curriculum and start-up tools to create a living classroom. The “Bee Smart School Garden Kit” will help schools create bee friendly gardens or make existing gardens inviting to bees, providing a living demonstration of how vital bees and other pollinators are to the foods we eat and to our ecosystems. Each kit will have components that can be used at school, at home, and online to maximize the learning experience.
